637 kW Rooftop Solar: Irvin-GQ, South Wales
At peak generation the building runs fully off-grid against a premises consumption of 1,076,078 kWh per year. Annual CO2 saving of 441.632 tonnes - 14,800 trees-equivalent. Payback 3 years, lifetime ROI £3 million. The client has since commissioned FLD to scope battery storage addition to capture afternoon surplus against overnight site load, and is progressing with Scope 3 reporting integration into their MoD supply-chain disclosures.
Parc Dewi Sant
Since going online in 2022 the system has produced 477 MWh of clean energy and contributed 253,869 kg of CO2 reduction. Lifetime ROI approximately £1 million against a £252,750 capex. The monitoring output is feeding into Hywel Dda's estate carbon reporting against NHS Wales decarbonisation targets, and FLD is in discussion with the board on follow-on scope for additional Hywel Dda campuses.
Cambrian Place
A 33 kW renewable energy source quietly integrated into the Swansea Marina roofscape, supplying 32 residential flats, meaningfully reducing shared-services energy costs and delivering long-term carbon-footprint reduction for the development. The Viridian in-roof finish has been well-received by residents and the managing agent, and FLD has since been contacted on similar multi-occupancy marina-district schemes.
Rainbow Leisure Centre
Estimated annual solar production of 246.17 MWh. Annual CO2 savings of 47.61 tonnes - equivalent to 2,186 trees planted. Estimated lifetime ROI approximately £1 million against a 3-year estimated payback. The centre stayed open for members throughout the installation.
Swansea Recycling Plant
A 50 kW rooftop solar array commissioned onto live modular casings without stopping waste recycling operations. Annual generation of 48.06 MWh delivers 10.74 tonnes of CO2 savings per year - equivalent to 493 trees planted. Payback 3.5 years against a £45,000 capital cost, with a projected lifetime ROI of £300,000.
Princess of Wales Hospital
Estimated annual solar production of 218.44 MWh. Annual CO2 savings of 42.24 tonnes - equivalent to 1,940 trees planted. Estimated lifetime ROI approximately £1.2 million against a 3.5-year estimated payback on the £227,000 capex. The system is now feeding the Cwm Taf Morgannwg estate carbon reporting against NHS Wales net-zero targets.

Farming Connect grant of £28,400 (40% of eligible costs) secured. Net capex after grant: £42,600. Post-grant AIA payback: 1.9 years. The battery has already sustained refrigeration through two winter grid interruptions. The client has enquired about a second array on the grain store.
100 kWp school solar, Swansea secondary school
approximately £88,000 (Salix-funded, zero capital cost to school)
Salix Wales interest-free loan of £88,000 approved. Installation completed in 5 days during school summer holiday. First-term monitoring shows 89% term-time self-consumption - above the 82% modelled. The reception display has been used in 14 science and geography lessons. The school's energy manager has submitted a second application for the sports hall roof.
LED Lighting Upgrade: Swansea Bowls Centre
The upgrade cut the hall's annual lighting electricity consumption by 50%, with a payback period of 2.75 years on the works and an associated carbon saving of 5,943 kg CO2 per year. The centre keeps the light quality it needs for play, sheds the ongoing fluorescent lamp-and-ballast maintenance, and gains dimming control it never had before.
257 kW Solar Maintenance & Panel Clean
The array was returned to clean, fully-inspected condition, restoring the light reaching every cell and protecting the client's return on the asset. With the system back on a documented maintenance footing, generation is no longer being quietly lost to soiling, and the client has the inspection record needed to keep warranty and insurance conditions satisfied. FLD supplies before-and-after photography as part of every maintenance visit.
Thermography Finds a Solar Fire Risk
A developing fire risk was found and eliminated before it could cause damage or downtime, and the array was returned to safe, fully-documented working order with the thermal images kept as part of the maintenance record. It is a direct illustration of why FLD builds infrared inspection into its solar maintenance: the problems that threaten an asset most are the ones you cannot see without the right equipment.
