The challenge

The challenge

The client had taken on a site with an existing 257 kW rooftop array that had never been put on a maintenance schedule. Across a large, exposed industrial roof in South Wales the modules had built up heavy soiling - dust, moss, lichen and bird fouling - which shades cells, can create hot-spots and quietly pulls generation below what the system should produce. Left unmanaged, soiling and undetected faults erode the return the asset was bought to deliver and can breach the maintenance conditions attached to performance warranties and insurance.

Our solution

Our solution

FLD carried out a full operations-and-maintenance visit. Every module was cleaned with a reach-and-wash telescopic pole system using purified, deionised water - no detergents and no abrasion of the anti-reflective coating, and no need to walk the fragile roof sheets. Alongside the clean, FLD ran a visual and electrical inspection of the array, mountings and connections, documenting the condition of the system and flagging anything that needed attention.

The result

The result

The array was returned to clean, fully-inspected condition, restoring the light reaching every cell and protecting the client's return on the asset. With the system back on a documented maintenance footing, generation is no longer being quietly lost to soiling, and the client has the inspection record needed to keep warranty and insurance conditions satisfied. FLD supplies before-and-after photography as part of every maintenance visit.
