The challenge
Swansea Bay UHB requires EICR compliance across its estate on a rolling 5-year cycle. Ancillary buildings — workshops, plant rooms, staff accommodation, laundry — are typically on 3-year cycles due to the damp and industrial environments. Several buildings had not been tested within cycle, creating a compliance gap ahead of an NHS Wales estate audit.
Our solution
FLD deployed a two-person NICEIC Approved team across all 6 buildings over 3 weeks, working around hospital operations and obtaining access permits through the Swansea Bay UHB permit-to-work system. All C1 (danger present) observations were remediated on the day. C2 observations were documented, costed and scheduled for a follow-on visit within 28 days. Updated fixed asset schedules and test records were delivered in the UHB's preferred format for integration into their estate management system.
The result
All 6 buildings brought into EICR compliance ahead of the NHS Wales audit. Zero C1 observations outstanding at audit. The UHB has added FLD to the approved contractor list for EICR and electrical remediation works across the wider estate.
EICR, PAT, emergency lighting testing and fire alarm testing for commercial, industrial and rented residential properties across South Wales.
